“No-credit-check” or “no hard credit check”: what the difference is

Lenders use the first phrase a lot. It rarely means what it sounds like, so here is what actually happens when you apply with us.

Soft inquiry — what we use

A soft inquiry is a look at your file that is not tied to a credit application. It is visible only to you, and it does not change your credit score. We use it for the decision on your cash advance.

Hard inquiry — what we don’t use

A hard inquiry is recorded when a lender pulls your full report to decide on new credit. Other lenders can see it, and several in a short period can lower your score a few points. We don’t run one to decide on your advance.

So we do check something. A lender that says it checks nothing at all is either not verifying who it lends to or not telling you the whole story. Our check is simply a different one: it asks whether you can repay this advance from the income you have now. “Instant” describes the decision, not a skipped check: an instant cash advance with no hard credit check still verifies your income. The CFPB explains how scores and reports work on its credit reports and scores page.

What we look at instead of your score

For a cash advance the question is repayment on your next payday, so the review is built around that:

  • Your income. Current working income, confirmed with your most recent paystub.
  • Your checking account. It must be open, active and in your name, because the advance is paid into it and repaid from it.
  • Your banking history. Thirty days of statements show how money comes in and goes out.
  • Your identity. A valid government-issued photo ID.

Bad or fair credit is not a dead end

We consider applicants with bad or fair credit. A past late payment or a low score does not end your application, but approval isn’t guaranteed, and it depends on income and verification.

Eligibility self-check

Tick each requirement that is true for you. Nothing is sent anywhere, and this is not an application.

Which of these apply to you?
0 of 5requirements ticked so far. Here is why each one matters:
  • Only adults of legal age can sign a loan agreement, so this one can’t be waived.
  • A cash advance is repaid from your next paycheck, so we need to see steady working income. Benefits such as SSI, disability or retirement are not accepted under this requirement.
  • The money is paid into your checking account and the repayment is drawn from it. A newer account gives us too little history to review.
  • We verify who you are before we lend. The ID must be valid, not expired.
  • Your latest paystub and 30 days of banking history are how we confirm income and cash flow. Starter checks can’t be used.
  • Meeting the whole list doesn’t guarantee approval. Every application is verified, and what you can borrow depends on your income and the rules in your state.

How to qualify for a cash advance with bad credit

Your score is not on the list. These are the things within your control.

  1. Ask for what your pay supportsA smaller advance is easier to approve and easier to repay on one paycheck.
  2. Use the right accountApply with the checking account your pay goes into, not a secondary one.
  3. Have documents readyPaystub, ID and 30 days of bank history. Missing papers are the most common reason for delay.
  4. Keep details consistentThe name and income on your application should match your paystub and bank records.

What a $200, $300 or $425 cash advance costs

The fee is $15 for every $100 you repay. Most apps show you tips and subscriptions instead of a rate; we show dollars and APR, and both appear in your agreement before you sign.

You receiveFeeYou repayTermAPR
$200$35.29$235.2914 days460.08%
$300$52.94$352.9414 days460.08%
$425$75.00$500.0014 days460.08%
  • Example for a 14-day advance; the term can run up to 34 days. Fees and limits depend on your state.
  • Wondering about a $500 cash advance with no hard credit check? Our largest advance is $425, so for more than that we’d point you to an installment loan. For a quick comparison with apps, see our instant cash advance page.
  • A short advance is expensive. If you can borrow from a credit union or arrange a payment plan with the company you owe, compare the total cost first.

Red flags when you search with bad credit

  • “Easy” and “instant” as promises. Every advance goes through verification. The decision can come in minutes, but no one can promise approval before checking your income.
  • A fee before you get the money. A real lender takes its fee from the loan or the repayment, never as a gift card or wire up front.
  • A promise of approval. No honest lender can promise it before verifying your income.
  • Requests by text or social media for your bank login, card PIN or full SSN.
  • Pressure to sign right now, or terms that aren’t shown in full first.

Check before you apply

Look up the lender with your state’s financial regulator and confirm its license. Our own licensing disclosure is in the footer of every page and on the About us page. If something goes wrong with any lender, you can file a complaint with the CFPB.

Frequently asked questions

How do I qualify for a cash advance with bad credit?

Show steady working income, an active checking account in your name and a valid ID. We consider applicants with bad or fair credit, and the decision depends mainly on your income and the checking account.

Will applying affect my credit score?

No. We use a soft inquiry, which doesn’t change your score and isn’t visible to other lenders. If an advance goes unpaid and is sent to collections, that can hurt your credit later.

How much can I borrow the first time?

Up to $425, depending on your income and your state’s rules. We don’t publish a separate first-time limit; the amount you’re offered is shown before you sign.

Can I get a cash advance without a bank account?

No. The advance is paid into a checking account and repaid from it, and the account history is part of how we verify you.
